Larry Otoo

Larry Otoo is a Partner at Fugar & Company, with over 37 years of experience in legal practice in Ghana, specialising in Energy Law, corporate and commercial law, mining law, and international business transactions. He has appeared and participated in all stages of litigation at all levels of the Ghanaian court hierarchy, and has also participated in conciliation and arbitration.

He has advised on major energy, mining, and infrastructure projects, including the Aboadze Thermal Plant for the Volta River Authority, the Tano offshore gas field development for El Paso Energy Inc. and the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, and the development of the Jubilee Field for Anadarko. He has also advised Ashanti Goldfields, Goldfields of South Africa, and other mining companies on project financing, and advised the Commonwealth Development Corporation on the divestiture of state enterprises. He has provided legal opinions for multinational companies on foreign investment matters, prepared due diligence reports for government privatisation programmes, and advised on the setting up of mining concerns for exploration and exploitation of mineral resources in Ghana.

He has recently advised FMO Bank Nederland, China Bank for Development (CBD), BP Legal, Anadarko, Hilton Group, and Portugal Telecom on various transactions in Ghana. He has also consulted for the Government of Ghana on the review of various laws and regulations. He holds an LL.B (Hons) from the University of Ghana (1987), a BL from the Ghana School of Law (1989), and certificates in Advanced Securities from the Ghana Stock Exchange (1995) and Commercial Law & Practice from Crown Agents Resource (1996).
