Major Selasie Atuwo (Rtd)

Major Selasie Atuwo (Rtd) is the Managing Partner at his firm, specialising in corporate law, commercial transactions, data protection and privacy, intellectual property, and Fintech. He has over 26 years of experience advising local and international public and private clients across legal practice, risk management, investigations, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and civil/commercial mediation.

Selasie has advised Vodacom (South Africa) on Ghana's telecommunications regulatory framework; ICT Legal (an Italian law firm) on Ghana's data protection and privacy laws; served as Quality Assurance Consultant for Tony Blair's DigSmart Programme in Ghana; and acted as Co-counsel for the Ministry of Finance on Ghana's successful USD 3 billion Sovereign Bonds in 2020 and 2021. He also represents clients on complex legal, policy, and regulatory aspects of cyberspace, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, robotics, cryptoassets, blockchain, and defence and security.

Selasie holds four LL.M degrees in Information Technology Law, International Commercial Law, Business and Taxation Law, and Advanced Legal Practice from the University of Ghana, University of Dundee, Université de Cergy-Pontoise, and the University of the West of England, respectively. He also holds an LL.B (Hons) from the University of London, a Postgraduate Diploma in Bar Professional Studies from Bristol Law School, and certificates from WIPO, IBA/Florida State University, and the University of Reading. He is a Barrister of the Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn (England and Wales) and a Barrister of the Supreme Court of Ghana, and an accredited Civil/Commercial Mediator.

Selasie previously served as a professional military officer in the Ghana Army, with service on United Nations missions across Africa and the Middle East, including DR Congo, Lebanon, Sierra Leone, Côte d'Ivoire, and Liberia. He was awarded the Long Service and Efficiency Medal by the Ghana Armed Forces in 2016. He has also taught at the Law Faculties of GIMPA, Mountcrest University College, and KAAF College. He is a member of the Ghana Bar Association, Lincoln's Inn, American Bar Association, International Bar Association, International Association of Privacy Professionals, ADR Group Bristol, and ASIS.
